A 23 m stream drops straight into the sea. The cliff holds the legend of Seobul, who came searching for the herb of eternal youth.
Jeongbang Waterfall falls from a seaside cliff in Seogwipo and is 23 m high and 8 m wide. In Korea it is known as a waterfall whose stream drops straight into the sea. It was designated a Jeju Provincial Monument in 1995 and became a Scenic Site in 2008.
Seobulgwaji, a story left on the falls
Legend has it that Seobul, who came to Jeju on the orders of Qin Shi Huang to find the herb of eternal youth, carved the words 'Seobulgwaji (徐市過之)' on the cliff and went back west. See this story first at the Seobok Exhibition Hall by the entrance, then walk down, and the falls will look different.

Before you go
Pass the ticket booth and walk down the stairs to stand right in front of the falls. The rocks there are wet and slippery, so sneakers are a good idea. Sojeongbang Falls is about 300 m to the east, and Lee Jung-seop Street is about 3 minutes away by car.
